Tapini Sacred Heart High School.
Tapini Sacred Heart High School is the only District High School in Goilala. Located in Goilala District Head Quarters – Tapini – it has a student population of about 300, with staff members around 16. TSHHS is managed by the Catholic Church under Bereina Diocese, which manages and overseas the Catholic churches operations throughout the District amongst other places as well.
The only means of transport which is afforable and convenient to be used in this mountainous region is road transport. There is a airstrip in Tapini station which is used by third level aircrafts such as APNG and Air Sanga Ltd. But its very expensive and very much unpredictable with its schedules. As such relying on air transport for its school requirements an general operations and administration matters would be a very unrealistic approach.
Goilala High Way
Been the only road link connecting Tapini station and parts of Goilala District into Port Moresby, this road serves a very crucial role in educating the future leaders of Goilala in Tapini SHHS. And with the recent heavy down pours, resulting in land slides and land slips blocking the road and cutting off incoming and out going transport, the School management and the BOG decided something drastic needed to be done.
The student body was rounded up and a handful of selected muscular senior students where loaded onto the school truck and headed to the site where the road was blocked off. The students were primarily engaged to help clear the roads for their school supplies to come in from Port Moresby.

Help At Last.
Word on the street has it that the MP and his cohorts have all of a sudden organize some contractor to help clear the debris starting at Bakoidu junction up towards Tapini. It is good news indeed. However why REACT to SOS calls rather than planning and then budgeting to ensure this vital service is up kept and usable all the time.
