WORLD AIDS DAY – 1 December.
World AIDS Day, observed on 1 December every year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.
Goilala District is in Central Province, which houses Port Moresby. The population in Port Moresby is so large in Papua New Guinea context, hence AIDS epidemic is no doubt an issue of concern in Port Moresby.
Accessing Port Moresby from Goilala District is not like one is trying to get to Port Moresby from Telifomin or Manus or Kieta in Buka.
Getting into Port Moresby by air is only 30minutes, five  hours by road and a day by foot.
With such ease in getting into and out of Port Moresby, one can already see the enormity and the fragile and vulnerable the situation is for unsuspecting or suspecting Goilala to bring back into Goilala unwanted and uninvited social diseases such as AIDS.
