CENTRAL Province Premier League dark horse Goilala Karukas have booked a grand final berth against Aroma Coast at Maopa Village next week.
The Karukas, led by former junior Kumul Allan Pio and Nicko Dom, upset the highly-touted Koiari Nagavas 20-18, in the preliminary final at Sogeri last week. Earlier in the season, the Goilalas were written off but their impressive performance at Sogeri raised some eyebrows as they outplayed the Koiaris on home soil.
The dimunitive Goilalas never underestimate physically larger opposition as they have a kamikaze approach to defence and ball-carrying. They will battle with Aroma Coast for the Kila Haoda Cup and K20,000, while the loser will walk away with K15,000.
The third place play-off will see Koiari and Hiri-West battle for the consolation prize of K10,000 and K5000. The Jack Kedea Player of the Year Trophy and cash prize of K2000 will be awarded the outstanding player of the competition.
Competition chairman Jack Kedea said that the minor premiers would be honoured during the presentation at Maopa Village.
In the minor playoff, Mekeo Hawkies takes on Magi Highway Rebels. He said the people of Maopa will put up a welcome reception.
Guests will be Central Governor Kila Haoda, Goilala MP Daniel Mona, Abau MP Sir Puka Temu, Rigo MP Ano Pala and Kairuku Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo as well prominent local businessmen and Central provincial administration officers.
