I am personally lost with regards to this solar power donations that Honourable Kila Haoda has given to our people in Guarl LLG.
The news article is so confused in itself if you actually read that article.
In part this is what confuses me is Honourable Patrick Bauai in accepting the gift from Honourable Kila Haoda says..
“Guari LLG has a population of 7000-8000 and the only way for my people get to Port Moresby is by walking for almost a week before they can get on a PMV to the city”
What has walking to Port Moresby for days has got to do with Solar power? With this solar power lights help the walking in anyway?
Governor Haoda in his hand over speech said…
“There is no electric light, the villagers have to walk for miles in total darkness.” Haoda said the purchase of the solar system was part of his initiative to provide basic services to the people in his province, not only to those people in the urban areas but people in the rural areas as well.”
Governor, in case you not aware while we appreciate your help with solar powers kits, what we need is schools to be re-opened, maintained, upgraded, renovated and staff houses rebuilt, and staff welfare taken care off.
We need our children to be educated in well kept and fully kitted schools, with teacher present all year round.
We need airstrips to be opened and third level airlines engaged and contracted to service our District without any excuse of lack of maintenance on airstrips or lack of economic activities to not provide such service to us.
We need well kept, fully kitted Aid Posts and Health Centres having well qualified CHWs stationed onsite to take care of the sick and dying folks throughout our District.
We need communication services rolled out throughout our District so we can easily communicate with our loved ones outside in other parts of PNG and world over. Using communication we can report issues directly to concern authorises for prompt response and action.
We also need electricity but electricity should come in right at the end of the long queue of priority items.
Electricity is a WANT. Electricity is not a NEED. That is from a Goilala perspective.
Right now we have far more pressing issues that needs funding then electricity. Please get your priorities right and be guided accordingly.
