PERFECT SCORE – 100% CORRECT – MY PREDICTIONS BEFORE COUNTING – GOILALA OPEN BY ELECTION

In the lead up to the Primary counts, I boldly stated Alex Hoem Robert will win Guari LLG, while Peter Nomai will win Tapini LLG with William Samb shooting into the front for Woitape LLG.

And it seems my political analytical skills have not let me down as yet.

Now we enter the business end, the maker or breaker end of power play.

It will be interesting to note that since most of the voting across Goilala in the Primaries followed Family Tree lines, blood lines, and language boundaries, it is believed, 2s and 3s will follow suit.

So if we look at the TOP 10, pay close attention to the number of Kunimaipa, Tauwades and Fuyuges making up the final cut.

We have 2 Guari LLG candidates, 3 Tapini LLG candidates and 5 Woitape LLG candidates.

Do we see a pattern already?

So for Guari LLG, is all of Mathew Poia’s 2s and 3s headed for Alex Hoem?

Looking back at the recent past, 2012 NGE had Alex burn out his 2s and 3s. None of them or only a few went to Mathew Poia when Alex was eliminated.

So are we expecting a payback come this By Election?

Tapini LLG is interesting. Raymond and Peter are literally from the same area – Kerau side. Their eye-to-eye conversation aspect is unknown to me but I’d confidently say, if Raymond is to be eliminated, expect Nomai to make a move up the ladder.

Woitape LLG is known the Political Power broker time and time again when Election season pops up. So I expect this to happen yet again.

Funny thing is, Auga Dila voters don’t like their fellow Udab Savo (Upper and Lower Veitapu) folks. And Chirime over the range are cunning people. They will tell you one thing now and do the exact opposite of that next day.

So don’t expect major shifts in number sharing.

Fabianne will exhaust all his twos and threes while Mona and Mamando will most likely share their 2s and 3s depending on goes out first.

William will rely on good will from Jimmy’s voters as well as Inne and Mona with Mamando.

THE REAL POWER BROKERS.

In my opinion, I would conclude by pay close attention to the Top 20, which is the bottom 10 of the current Top 10.

These are the candidates from position 11 through to 20.

If anyone is to make some serious bets, sit back and assess the numbers that is been locked with the 11th-20th candidates.

Reason I say this is because apart from the bottom end candidates which will go first, the 11th-20th placed candidates will be the ones pushing the candidates above them up or down.

MY PREDICTION.
Alex will collect across Goilalas 3LLGs. So will Bruce who most likely will rise as well.

I expect Inne to either make it or break it for William but knowing William collected all across the 3LLGs and was labelled “Mr Steady Climber Samb” I will expect him to collect still.

LAST MAN STANDING.
Alex will give William a run for his Money.

But Mamando is still the dark horse.

14th May 2015 – A NEW DAWN FOR GOILALA PEOPLE

14th May 2015 – ISSUE OF WRITS FOR GOILALA OPEN BY ELECTION.

When our late Member for Parliament passed away unexpectedly, earlier this year, the Goilala people dearly wanted to know when the Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission would set for us to elect our Parliamentary representative.

The National Government using its agent the Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission and set that date to 14th of May 2015.

Today is the 14th of May 2015. And the Governor General will participate in the signing of instruments/documentation, to signal the beginning of the By Election for Goilala Open.

Today marks the beginning of the NEW ERA for the people of Goilala.

Let embrace this Day with hearts full of optimism and hope. Lets stand up and make this day a day when we have closed an old chapter and will open a brand new chapter which must see a change in our attitude, our behavior, our actions, our choices and our selections and election of our Member for Parliament.

Long Live The Goilala Dream.

PNG POLITICS BIG PLAYERS TURN THEIR FOCUS TO GOILALA BI-ELECTION

With the issue of Writs just 48 hours out from now, the Political fever has reached it climax for Goilalas.

Big players have by now closed in on whom they will nominate and after doing so, have gone about setting out the “game plan” for their candidate.

Amongst a host of them National Alliance is rumored to have picked up one of the candidates that finished up 5th in the 2012 National Elections.

Their plans according to a birdie would be to bring the Grand Chief up to the blue mountains of Goilala.

while People’s Progress Party has also picked up the candidate that came in as a rookie under the PPP banner in the 2012 National Elections.

As usual rumors has it that PPP will fly their candidate in using a chopper. But rumors will always be rumors.

Pangu Party has also shown its hand by endorsing a candidate who is a new comer to the political scene compared to Jimmy Gulolo and Alex Robert Hoem who are now second time candidates amongst others.

Location for nominations is split up with unconfirmed reports indicating Woitape LLG candidates will nominate in Port Moresby why the Tapini LLG and Guari LLG candidates are expected to converge into Tapini to have their nominations done there.

The primary cause of such a split in location of nomination is unknown but hopefully this uncertainty will be settled by an announcement/clarification from Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission.

The tempo has just gone up another level and battle lines are been drawn up between candidates and their supporters. Confrontations between a few candidates and their supporters have been reported here and there but no serious arm.

Campaign strategies are been discussed and finalized around this time. Rallies are also been discussed and finalized.

Goilala Open Bi Elections is turning out to be a very interesting one. Alot of parties are now interested in how this elections are run. And alot of people that was never thought off to be politically minded are now seen to be actively involved in Politics.

Interesting days are up ahead but for now lets await the Issue of Writs date.

JIMMY ANIAWA WELCOME BY ELECTION DECISSION BY ELECTORAL COMISSION

Goilala district administrator welcomes poll

BY JOE GURINA

Goilala District Administrator Jimmy Aniawa has welcomed the by-election for the Goilala Open seat left vacant by late Daniel Mona.

Mr Aniawa thanked the Electoral Commission through Commissioner Andrew Trawen’s leadership in having the by-election timely for the people of Goilala.

“We need a political head at this time to run the affairs of the district,” Mr Aniawa said.

He said they needed a Member of Parliament in order to have access to funds to finance appropriate projects that were not completed.

“We have gone through our review of the Five Year Development Plan (5YDP) recently and have identified incomplete and new projects for the districts, however at this stage we need a political head to access funding to the projects,” Mr Aniawa said.

He challenged the people of Goilala to vote in a leader in late Mona’s calibre to complete unfinished priorities of the district that was left behind by the late MP.

Mr Aniawa said Mr Mona has left behind unfinished projects that needed to be completed.

He said projects like the Doa to Tolokuma Road, the Mondo township, upgrading of the Tapini and Fatima gigh schools into secondary schools, the reviving of the Guari government station and the upgrading of the Tapini Highway were major projects implemented by the late MP and needed to get the projects off the ground with the support of a political head in parliament.

He cautioned voters to cast their votes basing on the candidates merits and not by fear or favour that would jeopardise the affairs of Goilala.

Meanwhile he had raised concerns on how the assistant returning officers were mandated to run the by-elections.

GOILALAS PETITION ELECTORAL COMMISSION – POST COURIER

By DONALD WILLIE

THE Electoral Commission has been petitioned by the Goilala people not to engage district public servants of Goilala descent as polling officials in the up-coming Goilala Open by-election.

A letter signed by councillors, magistrates, representatives from the churches, women and youth representatives, village chiefs and general population from the three LLGs claimed that the assistant retaining officers (AROs) named to look after each LLG area have previously been involved in corrupt activities during election period.

All they are asking for is a fair and transparent election and wish to have the AROs appointed to be from other Central districts and not from Goilala.

Former MP for Goilala, Mathew Poia, said these men had political and personal affiliations with candidates, which led to corrupt deals being made between parties.

He also said one of the AROs has in the past been thrown behind the bars for a while before being released on bail after he was caught smuggling ballot papers into the counting room in a previous election.

The people plan to hold a peaceful protest today at the Central provincial administration office against the nominations of the assistant retaining officers.

They said similar to the appointment of the retaining officers, the three AROs should also be from outside the district of Goilala so as to carry out a fair election.

Cited in the letter to the Electoral Commissioner, public servants (named) have in the past made boastful public announcements under the influence of liquor of how they have made candidates win elections.

It is also alleged in the letter that the public servants claimed the right to travel in hired vehicles, spend nights in guest houses and receive money from district coffers at will.
